Myofascial Release Therapy is a potent method for restoring moisture, length, movement, and function to areas of the body that have stiffened in response to trauma, inflammation, overuse, injuries, scars, chronic stress, etc.

The signature of this modality is sustained moderate pressure, which allows crystallized fluids to melt, relieving pressure from the body-wide fascial web, reducing or eliminating pain, increasing flexibility, movement, strength, inner peace and lots more!

What is FASCIA and why is it so VITAL?

  • a continuous, ubiquitous web of collagen microtubules that surround, support, connect, protect, and hold in place every structure in the body (all the way down to the cellular level!) - the only body part to connect all the others

  • conducts fluid from cell to cell throughout the body, carrying information, cellular nutrition and bio-photons - this same fluid lubricates our tissues to glide over each other, allowing us to move freely

  • contains 6-10x the number of nerve endings as muscle tissue and is responsible for the body’s abilities of proprioception (sensing/knowing where the body is in space without looking) and interoception (sensing inside the body)

  • acts as a fiber-optic body-wide communication system, sending messages at 750mph (compared to the nervous system’s 150mph) due to its liquid nature

  • responds to trauma, stress, injuries and overuse by reinforcing itself by creating more connection points or by crystallizing the fluids running through and around the fascia channels

How is Myofascial Release so powerful? What makes it different?

By finding and sustaining the right pressure on restricted fascia, the fluids are melted back to a liquid state, and lost length returns to older restrictions which have shortened over time. This is highly beneficial for several reasons: the cells can be fed, hydrated, detoxed, informed and connected, the lubrication works again, pressure is relieved from circulatory vessels, organs, and nerves as proper space within the body is restored, conductivity returns to the body’s internet. The fascia is able to function as it’s meant to. The results are deep and innumerable.

This is the John F. Barnes method, which is not the same as other (more painful) styles, also called “Myofascial Release”. This one uses sustained, gentle pressure rather than force to help the body remodel itself, and “hurts so good” is the extent of therapeutic pain
